Small things are big things. Simple things are advanced things.
How sweet life is when we recognize our needs are simple.
Discerning between wants + needs is not something that is really taught to us as children. So forgive yourself now, if you’re not sure which is what!
In my clients and friendships, I witness a resistance or an inability almost, to be content in our "Being" nature. What is prevalent, is the always wanting/seeking of more a "‘Doing” of more, all in attempt to fill an insatiable void.
When we return to the body, *which is often no small feat, we can identify the simplicity of our needs. Shelter, nourishment, love, connection, purpose, etc.. only then we can begin to align our life force energy to be deliberate as to how these needs are met/maintained.
We all have a unique capacity to expend energy through our lives, mind, body, and subtle body systems. Like the Earth herself, we must take time to rest + regenerate, and thus observe our active/creative cycles as limited.
When we approach life from the mental/ideological realm of needing to reach a desired state, achieve something, or get somewhere other than where we are, we exhaust our life force by chasing after wants/desires that we have misunderstood as needs. If we perpetuate this cycle, we will never surmount the necessary energy we require for our dreams to unfold.
Asking the simple question of yourself "Is this a need, or a want?" will help to develop a clear relationship between intention + motivation.
What is your motivation in wanting this thing/outcome? Does this serve my Spirit or my ego? What would happen if this need was to go unmet?
Being able to meet yourself with compassion is always the road I point to when we start to orient ourselves to our needs/wants.
Not shaming yourself for having needs or desires, but really holding space to find your own barometer as you learn to simplify, and discover a place of contentment unique to you, and validating your true needs.
I started a new weekly morning offering as an invitation into ourselves as a resonant, energetic embodiment of our intentions + dreams.
Frequency Friday is a 1 hour-ish (I always leave ample time for rest + shares) class where I lead a simple, fluid embodiment session with moving meditations, breath wave, energetic attunement + grounding. Frequency Friday is a community container where we come to give ourselves unapologetic care + the s p a c e to feel into our unique, ever-changing emotional landscape. Acknowledging ourselves as part of greater collective energy, and therefore taking radical responsibility for how we show up in the world and all our relations.
Offering my toolbox of 20 years of experience within the psycho/spiritual realms I share yogic wisdom, breath work, sound vibration, music and intuitive medicine intended to harmonize mind/body/spirit through our own felt expeireince.
I would love for you to join and bring your special energy to this potent space of grounding + creation. I will be sharing additional resources (questions, music, pdf etc) with this community, so if you are looking for freshness, for Fall accountability, + a expansive structure to set your frequency, this simple anchoring on Fridays may be for you!
May you tune into your soul needs at this time. Focus in on what is, or what may be nourishing to your soul through the way of transformation + beauty.
All my love,
SJ
